i’ve recently been working with my client, Sarah and her family on a few spaces within their home. the bonus room & youngest son’s room are the big projects, and we are updating a few things in their other 2 son’s rooms as well. the goal is to eventually update the entire house, get rid of the red, gold, brown tones and bring in more gray & cream for a freshened up look.
up first is the bonus room, and since Sarah likes having themed rooms, we went with a ‘city loft’ vibe in here- a fun room for the boys to hang out in with friends, watch tv, play video games, do homework, etc. the family needs plenty of seating in here, along with a game table, desk space and fun accents.
I am doing a faux brick wainscot treatment on the lower part of the walls, and we will paint the upper part a medium gray, the ceiling is going a pale blue color to give the feel of a sky in here. on one wall, we will have a long custom desk unit where the kids can do homework & draw, I am doing the skyline of Charlotte above this area. on the other wall, I found an industrial media cabinet that will go under the tv. the game table will have grey concrete stools around it and there will be 2 sofa’s creating an L shape to maximize seating in here.
next is Sam’s room, he currently loves ninja turtles so that’s the theme we are going with in here. I didn’t want the furniture and fabrics to reflect TMNT too much because this phase probably won’t last long. Instead, I am planning to use art that can easily be changed out down the road.
since his room is on the small side, I want to give him a day bed style set up, with night stands on each side. this will give him more room for the custom lego table I have designed. the long walls will get a stripe treatment and I plan to paint the ceiling lime green!! cowabunga dude!
I am looking forward to the install for these spaces, they should be super fun!!!
stay tuned……
