I recently met with new client Liz who is moving here with her hubby & 2 kids from Kansas City at the end of the month . . Our relationship started off via email and phone, and after listening to what her needs were for her family’s new home, I quickly got to work on the designs. She came for a visit this past week to make some final plans for the home, and my office was one of her stops. I was thrilled that she loved all of my designs and is ready to move forward, we’ve got a lot to do before the big move in day!
Phase 1 is going to consist of the family room, master bedroom, as well as kids Anna & Joe’s rooms. We are also refinishing all of the hardwood floors and installing new carpet in the kids spaces upstairs. Lets see what I have planned for this family….
The family room is getting a large sectional and a pair of swivel chairs to anchor the conversation area. I have decided to incorporate a few pieces with the mid-century vibe as Liz is a fan of the vintage feel mixed with new pieces. The breakfast area will get a new bar cabinet, new light fixture over the table & new counter stools. The color palette is a mix of navy, jade & gold tones.
The couple’s master bedroom will get all new pieces, its time for a grown up space as Liz is tired of the hodge-podge mix of furniture from their college days. The mix of dark and light will set the tone for the feel I want this space to have and I can’t wait to see these windows dressed with these amazing fabrics!!
Anna’s room currently has green striped walls, so we will be embracing that design element and will be incorporating pink, navy & turquoise. She is getting a big girl bed, vintage night stands, and curtain panels with pink pom pom trim for a girly touch. This is a room that will grow with her for many years to come.
Joe is into all things superhero and loves the color orange! He currently has a platform style bed & matching dresser so my plan is to have it painted for an updated feel. We will be doing a wallpaper feature wall as an accent. The pops of color will come from the vintage art work, cornices, & fun headboard!
I am really looking forward to putting these rooms together for this family.
And can’t wait to get started designing phase 2!!
Be sure to check back for the finished room reveals!
