I wanted to share a recent install that we did on a foyer. The foyer is an important space in a home, it is the first area your guests see when they enter. It should say something about your style and set the tone for the rest of the house. And we love making a statement with wallpaper! For all of you that despise wallpaper, get ready, because it is really making a come-back and I love proposing it to clients. The patterns and colors are great, so fresh and new. Not the old stuff you think about in your grandma’s house!!!

So, one of my repeat client’s contacted me to come over and take a look at her foyer. After designing her three kids rooms, she was ready to move on to the next project in her already beautiful home! Her current foyer was so dark and not her style at all. She wanted to brighten the space up and wanted it to flow with the rest of her home.

We decided to wallpaper over the existing brown damask printed paper with something new (yes I said wallpaper over and yes I said BROWN!). For those of you that don’t know this, yes! you can put wallpaper over wallpaper. If it is in good condition, you can prime the walls and put up the new stuff. She was determined to keep the existing light fixture as she liked the shape of it, I had other ideas about it, wanting to get something larger in scale. She also wanted a place to sit and read the mail and maybe have a side table to act as a catch-all for keys & mail.

Here is what I proposed to her and what we ended up changing a few things in the end. Take a look at the finished product……
