one room challenge! here i go again, week one

hey everyone!  i was waffling whether or not to participate in the one room challenge this season with blog Calling It Home.  i mean, it’s not like i have nothing else to do right now 😉  my partner is on maternity leave and work is crazy slammed, but in the end, i decided i needed the push to do something about my horrible upstairs bathroom.

this is technically the master bathroom in our 1960’s home, but with the previous one room challenges i’ve participated in, this has now become the boys’ bathroom.  here is the MLS photo from when we bought the house, and little has changed.  the only thing i’ve replaced is the mirror.  and bless my dad’s heart, he dropped his drill while trying to install a new sconce and broke the corner off our vanity (we decided to wait on the sconce).  it’s just a hot mess!

all the issues i have with this bathroom… i really don’t like the style of the shower tile, so i’m debating on how to address this. will i replace or reglaze for the time being?

I TOLD YOU IT WAS BAD!

the other eye sore is this open shelving situation we have going on.  i can’t wait to have doors to cover them up.  i do love my faux bamboo mirror.  it might come back, or i might find a new home for it in the house.

for the vanity, i’m thinking of using a mid century dresser.  if you remember, i did that in my very first one room challenge and i love how it turned out.  next week i’ll share my design for the space.  i know there will be wallpaper and i have some fun tricks up my sleeve, so make sure and follow along to see the progress unfold.
