on the boards…carr living & dining rooms

this space was a little bit of a challenge. it’s the ‘front room’ of my client susan carr. it’s an entry, with spaces on the left and right, all rolled into a 14′ deep x 32′ long room. the solution was great space planning; never under-estimate the power of the perfect furniture layout. the other goal here was to tie the front room to the dining room together with color. this was achieved through fabrics, you will see the palette for both spaces contain blues, reds and greens.

keeping the existing paint colors, i worked around susan’s existing dining room rug and found the perfect fabric for new panels and a great complimentary fabric to recover her existing dining chair seats.

again, keeping the existing wall color, i pulled together a tranquil palette punctuated with a little hit of RED! red always livens up a space. our new custom furniture vendor, whom we’re keeping very busy these days, is making a pair of sofas that will flank the fireplace and two funky ottomans to complete the look.
