i just arrived back in the states with a camera full of pictures from my install for the maddox’s flat in chelsea. it was an awesome trip, although the coldest weather to hit london in 50 years! this is how it looked when i arrived…it was snowing!!!
i’ll start on the ground floor and work my way up.
first up, the foyer and ground floor reception room.
there was a tiny niche at the bottom of the stair that was perfect for a small
writing desk for courtney. as you will see, it’s getting lots of use!
the ground floor reception room is where all the entertaining happens. because the kitchen is tiny, this room had to serve as the dining room also. i divided the room into two zones, a loungy area at the fireplace and a formal eating area. the kids have claimed the banquette as their own, and i don’t blame them, it’s quite cozy.
the botanical print was my inspiration for the room. i love the unusual combination of colors; it provided lots of options for other accents.
with all the color being used in the room, i thought a neutral rug was the way to go.
moving to the first floor, let’s look at the first floor reception room, or family room…
i knew courtney and robert weren’t afraid of color, so i decided to turn things up a notch in the family room. i started with the fabrics…
i chose this rug after i selected the fabric palette, i guess i normally work in the opposite way, and it was the absolute perfect fit!
it tied all the colors together and helped warm up the existing wood floors.
that covers the living spaces, stay tuned for part two of the install!
