i can’t believe it’s already week five, only one more week before the linking participants of the ORC with blog Calling It Home reveal our projects! very exciting!!!! if you’re just tuning in, the ORC is a six-week challenge where you transform a room in your home; i chose my guest bathroom. to catch up, check out the previous posts.
week one | week two | week three | week four
so…i know some of you were a little worried that i wasn’t farther along, but i have some great progress to share this week! construction started on wednesday of last week, so since last thursday, this is what has commenced at tamworth drive.
to cover up the hole from the plumbing repair, my GC installed new cement board. our house is old, and he discovered that the tiles are set to a mortar wall, not a good find, so we decided it would be better to go over the existing tile. it takes minimal space from the shower area so i had no issues with that.
the first wall of tile going up. i was worried you couldn’t really see the contrast between my two tile choices, but now that it’s all up, i feel much better.
the entire shower tiled and grouted (before grout clean-up of course)!
next, the floor tile was installed… i LOVE it!!!!
if you follow me on instagram, you saw this pic from sunday. i was out picking up grout and paint. after comparing the two colors, i decided to pull out the cooler icy blue tones from my shower curtain fabric.
my GC cleaned up the grout on the shower walls yesterday, i’m really happy with it! i decided to use the darkest grout i could find, charcoal, to give some contrast to the pale tones of the tile.
and lastly, the vanity had a dry fit today, i was SO excited to see it in the room! it’s hard to see it with the drawers taken out, it just looks like a black void but you get the idea 🙂 you can also see the first coat of paint on the walls.
my sconces will arrive friday, so the finishing touches are just a few days away. i can’t wait to share the reveal next week! be sure to check out the other projects, we could all use some support at this point, it’s crunch time!
design swell. live well.
