installed! bold, but traditional living room

i’ve been patiently waiting to share this install with all of you, it’s definitely one of my favorite projects, and favorite clients for that matter!  i was smitten the moment i met betsy simerville; she’s way fun, loves sarah richardson, and flat out said ‘NO LIGHT COLORS, I WANT BOLD!’  we were a perfect designer/client match from the start!  for all the backstory, please visit the on the boards blog post.

so, how did i get started on this project?  i went straight to one of my favorite fabric patterns ever, flamingo park by designer’s guild.  gorgeous, yes?

the simerville’s live in a traditional home, so my goal was to introduce traditional motifs with a modern palette. there’s nothing more traditional, or southern, than magnolias. next, add in a handful of supporting fabrics…

several pieces stayed in the room. we reupholstered a chair that belonged to betsy’s grandmother, lacquered and reupholstered two fretwork chairs, and lacquered an amazing coffee table she was using in her den. i can’t wait for you to see them now!

check out the detail shots! sorry there are so many, lots of good things to look at in this room!

i absolutely LOVE how this room turned out, and thankfully betsy has been showing it off; i’m already doing work for one of her neighbors! we tweaked the boys’ den also, stayed tuned for that post. until next time, design swell. live well.
