i’m happy to announce that i made it to week six of the ORC, and i finished!  with not a moment to spare i might add.  for those of you who don’t know, i’ve been a linking participant with blog Calling It Home for the semi-annual One Room Challenge.  I chose to renovate my guest bathroom.  if you’ve been following along, thank you so much, and if you’re just joining in, check out the progress from each week.

this has been such a fun experience and i certainly intend to participate again.  thanks to linda for allowing others to join in the exciting chaos that can come with a six-week project deadline.  i’m really going to miss linking up every week!

so… where did i end up?  my contractor finished up on tuesday, so i spent the morning yesterday running around for those finishing touches to bring the room together; art, accessories, flowers…  i’m almost in awe that it’s finished and i LOVE how it looks!  however, before we see the pretty, we have to remember where this all began…

it was quite a transformation! take a look at the details…

ah the vanity, it had some issues, but it’s still amazing. i couldn’t be happier with it! i went with an extra long shower curtain and hung it near the ceiling. it makes the room feel so much larger.

i chose a bamboo ‘mat’ instead of a traditional rug; no hiding the yummy floor tile!

i’ve always loved this scallop edge mirror from wisteria.  i had a plan to paint it a high gloss white on the front, and gold on the back, but when it arrived, it already had touches of gold, and the gray finish worked great as-is.  nothing like lush green hydrangea stems to brighten a space.  not only do they make me smile, they add another element of my favorite color to the vanity.

my intent was to have an accent wall, and using these gold dot decals was a breeze. i was lucky enough to snag a piece of art that includes all the same colors as my shower curtain fabric. that wall needed a large scale piece to make a statement.

the subtle stripe of my subway tile shows up just enough. i’m really glad i went with the charcoal grout color; had i used white, i think the stripes would’ve been less crisp.

and that’s my first ORC in a nutshell, hope you’ve enjoyed following along.  i want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to garrett mauldin of mauldin construction.  he pulled this off, not me.  without him, this room would never have looked this great and i appreciate the numerous hours  he spent driving and working every day.  thanks a million!!!!!
