One room challenge: week six

it’s week six of the ORC which means it’s REVEAL DAY!  sorry I was MIA last week with my update, but all I had to share was a new wall and a room full of toys and clutter to clean out.  i didn’t think that would be very entertaining to anyone!  if you’re just now joining in and wondering what the ORC is all about, it’s a concept created by Linda of blog Calling It Home where she invites 20 design bloggers to tackle a room in a six-week period, sharing the process every wednesday.  Linda graciously lets the rest of us join in via a ‘linking party’ where we post our project progress every thursday.   this time around, i chose a master lounge retreat.  you can start at the beginning by clicking on the links below.

week one | week two | week three | week four

if you’ll remember, my intent was to construct a new wall to divide the existing playroom into a huge walk-in closet and a master lounge.  the playroom is getting relocated upstairs so that the entire lower level of our house is now the ‘master level.’

the hubs and i have been really looking forward to this project, especially the closet! this was the ‘before’ picture i showed, with toys and all. i’m going to show some before shots from when we bought the house. i think it will give you a better feel for the space since it’s not that large and the toys are blocking most of it in this pic.

using sherwin williams’ ‘inkwell’ on the walls was definitely the correct choice. i would stress, if you’re going to paint walls this dark, include the trim. otherwise, you end up with a space that looks choppy. keeping a consistent color is key to eliminate visual clutter. i want my ceiling to be the focus, and why wouldn’t i……

i am SO, SO, SO glad i used this amazing harlequin wallpaper on the ceiling!!!  i am just completely smitten with it and love how it frames my chandelier from park studio.

my new fav decor book, sarah style that i pre-ordered months ago.  you all know how much i adore sarah richardson!  my metal lamp started out silver, but a few coats of spray paint fixed that.

my vintage bar cart was relocated from my dining room. this is a much better fit for it and i love how it showcases my C Wonder gold striped glasses and Crate and Barrel pink martini glasses!

do i love the room, absolutely!  but i have to say, the best reaction was my husband’s when he came home from work yesterday.  he was speechless and just kept saying ‘WOW’ and taking it all in.  it’s SO nice for the two of us to have our own little escape to prop up our feet, sip our coffee and reconnect with each other.

many thanks to Linda for allowing those of us crazy enough to take the challenge to participate.  i’m looking forward to my third round next year!  head over to Linda’s to check out the other participants, be prepared to
