yes, it’s that time again! time for the fall One Room Challenge (ORC) with Linda of blog ‘Calling It Home.’ as soon as the last one wrapped, i marked my calendar for the next one!
to get you up to speed, Linda opens up the ORC to anyone who is brave enough to take on a room makeover and complete it in a six-week period. this is the ‘linking participant’ method and we post updates every thursday, sharing our progress, frustrations, joys, etc.. my project for this round is a ‘master lounge.’
creating a master lounge isn’t as simple as claiming an existing room in my house., we’re going to be rearranging a few things… as my house is from the ’60s, we lack closet space. i had the idea of moving the master bedroom downstairs, divide the adjacent existing playroom with a wall, which would create a huge walk-in closet and a sitting room that i’m referring to as the master lounge. this takes away the en suite we have upstairs, but i’m okay with that since the entire lower level is the master level. i would then turn the existing master into the playroom, making the upper level the ‘kid level.’ take a look at the plan…
a few before shots of the project room. excuse all the toy mess. at least we have two closets in the new playroom upstairs!
new wall will align with the bulkhead
so, what do i have in store for this space? dark lacquered walls, pops of pink, and sprinkles of gold. take a look at the design board…
check back next thursday to see where i am with the progress, and check out the other participants. i’m always amazed at the talent, i literally look at every single project and follow along. we can all use the support during this process. until next time, design swell. live well!
