*i actually wrote this post months ago, after taking the first install photos. just recently i added more pictures of the game area after our long anticipated chairs arrived!*
i have another MAJOR transformation to share with you today. this time it’s the living room for ted and hayley rogers. if you follow me on instagram, you saw this sneak peek a few weeks ago. if you don’t follow me, you should! this is my second project with the rogers; if you missed it, you should catch up on the kitchen renovation we completed last year, another amazing before and after.
the original living room was covered in dark wood panelling and featured two antique overhead fixtures that barely emitted any light. this room, and my clients, were screaming for me to make it over! the plan for the room had to include a seating area, game area and office area. after a few CAD layouts, i came up with an arrangement that put the office area near the entry door so the desk could also function as a foyer table. i nestled the seating area in the center of the room at the fireplace so we could maximize seating and create wonderful symmetry. (never underestimate symmetry!) this allowed the game area to be at the far end of the room, opposite the entry, so games could easily be stored out of view.
it all started with this incredible @robertallendesign fabric. the palette is fresh and interesting and gave me a great opportunity to fill the room in bright, bold color.
take a look at my vision for the space; lots of color with touches of gold…
now, the really good stuff! the ‘before’ and ‘after’ shots!
this room is like a breath of fresh air! this could easily be a room in my own home i love it so much. i hope ted and hayley enjoy the room as much as i enjoyed designing it for them. i’m always amazed at the power of paint; it was key to the success of this design.
until next time! design swell. live well.
